한국인터넷기자협회는 지난 11월 20일 2009년도 제5차 운영위원회를 열고 신규 회원사 가입의 건 등 주요 안건을 심의 의결 처리하였다.
이날 운영위원회에서는 본회 신규 지회(회원사)로 대한일보 등이 가입 승인되었다.
또한 공익사업위원회 사업으로 인터넷신문 <뉴스웨이>사와 함께 개최한 '2009 대한민국 지식경영대상'에 대한 결과보고와 후속 사업을 논의, 의결하였다. 후속 공익사업으로는 '언론희망기금' 사업으로 '작은 (희망의) 씨앗 기금'을 조성키로 하였다.
이에 따라 △ 조대기 군포시민신문 전 편집국장과 지역신문(백혈병 투병 언론인에게 희망을! 지역신문에게 빛을!) △이유경 국제저널리스트 △북저널리즘과 1인 콘텐츠기업(출판사 등)' 등을 선정하였다.
이밖에 착한 다운로드(good download) 캠페인 사업의 일환으로 인터넷 언론단체 등과 더불어 불법콘텐츠 다운로드로 인한 콘텐츠 생산자와 이용자 피해 줄이기 차원에서 콘텐츠공정유통협의회 발족에 참여키로 하였다. 발족 기자회견은 12월 9일(수) 오전 11시 서울 여의도 국민일보 빌딩 1층에서 진행된다.
본회는 사업비 문제 등으로 일시 중단한 '한국인터넷기자상'을 복원해 '2009 한국인터넷기자상'을 공모키로 하였다. 한국인터넷기자협회 언론인명록 발간 사업도 계속 추진키로 하였다.
2010년 지방선거를 앞두고 선거법 개정안 청원운동을 추진키로 하였다. 매체 환경과 사회적 상황의 변화 등으로 사설, 칼럼 등을 통한 정당, 후보에 대한 찬반 입장 표시 가능하도록 선거법 개정안을 마련해 입법청원에 나서기로 하였다. 현행 선거법은 사설, 칼럼을 통한 후보자, 정당에 대한 찬반 지지를 못하게 규제하고, 처벌조항을 둠으로써 언론자유 침해, 유권자들의 선택과 판단에 대한 정보 등을 제한하고 있다.
