한국인터넷기자협회는 지난 7월 2일 운영위원회를 열어 방송통신위원회가 공모를 벌이고 있는 한국방송공사, 방송문화진흥회 이사 공모에 참여하기로 의결했다.
이에 따라 본회는 14일 오후 운영위원회 의결에 따라 이준희 회장을 방송문화진흥회 이사 공모에 피추천하는 공모서류를 방통위에 접수했다.
본회는 급변하는 미디어 융합 시대에 인터넷매체를 비롯 방송, 신문 등 미디어 산업간의 균형 발전을 도모하고, 인터넷 및 전문 언론의 권익보호와 산업 발전, 콘텐츠 저작권 보호 등을 위해서 방송 미디어의 발전에 적극 참여해야 한다는 입장 아래 이번 방문진 이사 공모에 참여하였다.
이준희 회장은 "한번 서류나 접수하자고 본회가 공영방송 이사 공모에 참여한 것이 아니다"라며 "기존 미디어에서 소외된 인터넷 매체의 입장을 적극 반영하고, 방송문화진흥회와 문화방송의 독립성과 공공성을 지키고 보호함으로써 시청자 주권신장에 기여하고 궁극적으로 언론 산업의 발전에 기여하기 위해 참여한다"는 입장을 밝혔다.
이 회장은 "공모 과정에서 기회가 있으면 입장을 구체적으로 밝히겠지만 언론 진영의 입장을 지지하면서도 인터넷기자협회만의 독립적인 견해를 강조하겠다"라며 "방송사 내 비정규직 차별 문제와 작가(콘텐츠 생산자들)들의 콘텐츠 저작권 보호, 매체간의 균형적인 발전을 위한 비대칭 문제 해소를 적극 제기하겠다"고 주장했다.
방송통신위원회는 한국방송공사(KBS)와 문화방송(MBC)의 최대 주주인 방송문화진흥회 이사 공모를 16일까지 접수한다.
그러나 진보 성향의 언론계와 야권에서는 이번 방통위의 공영방송 이사 공모 절차 및 방식에 대해서 이명박 정권의 낙하산 이사 선임을 통해서 문화방송 등 공영방송을 완전히 장악하기 위한 요식행위에 불과하다며 크게 반발하고 있다. 미디어행동 등은 연일 방통위 앞 기자회견 등을 통해서 방통위의 공영방송 이사 공모 계획 중단을 촉구하면서 이사 선임에 관한 기준을 공개하라고 압박을 가하고 있다.
특히 미디어행동은 민주당이 추천해 임명된 야권 추천 방송위원 2명에 대해서 용퇴를 강하게 요구하고 있다.
이와 달리 미디어발전국민연합 등 보수언론진영에서는 KBS와 방문진 이사 공모에 대거 참여할 것으로 알려졌다. 보수언론진영은 이번 공영방송 이사 공모와 선정을 통해서 문화방송 등 공영방송 내 좌파세력을 몰아내겠다고 색깔몰이에 나서고 있다.
